Great Brownies | Great People | Great Cause

A great brownie can do a world of good

Decisions, decisions.
We feel for you. It may seem difficult, given the exemplary virtues of the trusty, timeless Chocolate Fudge brownie and the enticements of its nutty, exotic, and butterscotch-inspired variations, to choose. But take heart. You really can't go wrong when it comes to Greyston Gourmet Brownies. Each of the four flavors is, in its own right, transporting. And if you can't pick one, then pick them all. Our assortment package was designed for just such a quandary.

Profile | Wendy

When Wendy, a homeless, single parent arrived at Greyston in 1994, she was seeking shelter; she also found a job and the will to succeed. She was hired as a part-time bookkeeper for the childcare center the Foundation operated at the same site where they gave her housing. Five years later, after several raises and promotions, she became the assistant to the Bakery's general manager, Julius Walls (now president). By 2002, Wendy had earned her B.A. in corporate communications, learned to drive, rented an apartment, and become instrumental in the Bakery's Apprentice Program.

Although vitally supported by several mentors at Greyston, Wendy credits the leader of a Bakery women's group for providing the last key to self-sufficiency: a practical understanding of personal finance. Packing up her "toolbox" of skills and goals, in August 2005 Wendy moved south and started a new job.
