Profile | Henry
After almost 25 years of working for Greyston, Henry is the last remaining member of the Zen community that founded the Bakery. Formerly an artist for Madison Avenue advertising firms, Henry gave up his day job for a Zen lifestyle making bread and desserts. Ultimately, he found his niche at the Bakery building and decorating cakes. He says he has loved the simple, pragmatic pleasure of the trade. Now semi-retired and working part time, Henry can pursue his other passions, which include science fiction and painting space art. He is also an accomplished jazz pianist. A man with talent to spare, Henry painted this self-portrait and the portraits that accompany each of our Greyston profiles, as well as the festive holiday band that adorns our brownie gift box.
